Review
They say that admitting that you have an addiction is the first step to recovery and if that is truly the case then I firmly deny my love for the most decadent of addictions—The Lords of Vice!
Christopher Courtland, Earl of Vanewright—known around London as “Vane”—is the very picture of a rich, handsome ladies’ man. Why shackle himself to just one lady when he’s free to sample them all? In spite of his own mother’s attempts at matchmaking, Vane has sworn to stay single. Until he has a chance run-in with Miss Isabel Thorne…
A modest and refined beauty, Isabel is a lot more brazen than she appears. When a pickpocket tries to make away with Vane’s bejeweled snuffbox, Isabel attempts to thwart his escape…and manages to steal Vane’s heart. But the harder he tries to seduce the sharp-tongued, strong-willed Isabel, the more she resists. Now it’s up to this tried-and-true bachelor to find a new way to play the game…or risk losing the one woman who’s ever captured his heart”.
SUNRISE WITH A NOTORIOUS LORD provides page upon page of pure ambrosia for the romantic soul.
The Earl of Vanewright “Vane”, has been beleaguered for years by his beloved mother’s schemes to see him wed until he’s nearly met his wit’s end. Isabel Thorne is teetering on the edge as well, trying to contain both her eccentric mother and flirtatious sister while struggling to keep the hounding creditors at bay. When a surprising offer arrives that could help solve at least two of her problems, Isabel has no choice but to agree although she soon finds that she may have bitten off more than she can chew once she begins butting heads (quite literally) with a handsome Lord of Vice.
Alexandra Hawkins has created a cast of devilishly wicked characters in these Lords of Vice and their perfect matches in the woman who dare lay claim to their hearts. This latest chapter, is no exception and provides incontrovertible proof that this author loves the characters she has created as much as, we the reader, do—if not more. Her crafting of their thoughts and emotions into something so beautiful continues to amaze me as I look forward to the remaining chapters of this series.
