It’s been a long time coming, but one of our favorite hunky highlander’s from Kerrelyn Sparks phenomenally addictive Love at Stake series, has finally been given his romantic moment in the spotlight courtesy of—THE VAMPIRE WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

The fourteenth book in the Love at Stake series features that gorgeous Scottish vampire in a kilt, Dougal Kincaid!

He’s out of control…

Dougal Kincaid has something to prove. After being injured in a battle with the Malcontents, he’s ready for active duty protecting unsuspecting mortals from the villainous vampires who want to rule the world. But first he has to get control of himself… because just the sight of a certain lovely doctor has his injured hand doing some peculiar things, not to mention the sizzling sensation that burns along his dragon tattoo..

Vampires? Vampires?! As a scientist, Leah is having trouble believing that these immortal creatures exist. But there they are, standing in front of her, asking for help in solving a genetic puzzle that can save mankind. There’s even one in a sexy kilt! Just one look into Dougal’s gorgeous green eyes sets her pulse racing. But can she trust him—and the overwhelming desire that refuses to be ignored?

… storytelling that is impossible to resist.

I adore all the Vamps and Shifters in this remarkable series, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the fabulous “Men in Plaid”, especially Dougal Kincaid. When I saw the synopsis for this title several months ago a mental countdown started in my head and the second it became available I snatched it up and hunkered down for a long and hopefully enjoyable haul to the end.

My patience was rewarded a thousand fold.

On the brink of another epic battle against evil, it seems like the worst timing possible for the woman he’s been waiting for, for three hundred years, to suddenly drop into his life.  But, that is exactly what happens when he spies Dr. Leah Chin for the first time and feels the tug in his soul that tells him that she might very well be the lost love from his past, reincarnated.

Although the chemisty between them is instant and highly combustible, the last thing Leah wants it to become involved with a vampire when she’s barely had time to come to grips with the fact that they actually exist and need her help. Not to mention, her first impressions of the handsome Vamp involve a comedy of errors with his malfunctioning mechanical hand and a life size doll named VANNA.

As always Ms. Sparks does an excellent job of mixing deeply emotional romance, loads of action-adventure, humor and steamy sex into a overall blending of storytelling that is impossible to resist.

The sweet courtship between Dougal and Leah takes center stage, but it is the trials they weather, sacrifices made and reconnection of lost souls that make this story stand out as one you will want to keep on your shelf forever.
