TEMPTING A DEVIL by Samantha Kane is a sensually, sweet delight from the first word to the last!

“As wealthy and beautiful as she is desperate, Harriet Mercer can have any man she wants—which makes picking the worst of the lot quite easy. By convincing the ton she is a ruined woman, Harry hopes to outwit the greedy, conniving cad blackmailing her into a loveless marriage. Roger Templeton is a rogue with a scandalous reputation, no expectations, and no shame. He is perfect for Harry’s fall from grace. Her brazen attempts at a very public seduction are delightful fodder for gossip . . . and pure torment for Roger.

With his pockets as empty as his heart, Roger is in no mood for games and decides to show Harry how foolish it is to tempt a devil. But behind her mesmerizing golden eyes, he sees something unexpected: a woman in trouble. Her scandalous behavior would be amusing if he wasn’t captivated by her lush, curvaceous beauty. Worse, every libertine bone in his body has turned traitorously noble. Only a rake would seduce her. But only a gentleman in love can save her.”

…a sensually, sweet delight from the first word to the last!

I want to start off by saying that I have read several of Ms. Kane’s earlier works which were, in fact, very well written historical romance erotica, but believe some of the marketing blurbs for this book that make is sound like TEMPTING A DEVIL falls into this category are slightly off the mark.

Although the love scenes between Harriet and Roger are wonderfully steamy, they are surprisingly more tame than many I have read recently in other mass market historical romances, so don’t let the label put you off from reading what, I think, was an extremely powerful and entertaining read.

With that off my chest…

I LOVED this story!

Harriet’s public pursuit of Roger, after deciding her childhood nemesis/crush will make the perfect pawn in her scheme to avoid a disastrous marriage, is at times, downright hilarious. Thrust into the role of prey, by a determined predator he’s—trying desperately to resist—Roger can’t believe that HE, of all people, is acting the gentleman.

Lively banter, villainous villains and ultimately, the fruition of a love story years in the making puts TEMPTING A DEVIL right at the top of my list of sexy summer reads this year!
