Review

LORD OF WICKED INTENTIONS is the grand finale of Lorraine Heath’s wonderful Lost Lords of Pembrook series and Rafe’s story was completely worth the wait!

Lord Rafe Easton may be of noble blood, but survival taught him to rely only on himself and to love no one. Yet when he sets eyes on Miss Evelyn Chambers, an earl’s illegitimate daughter, he is determined to have her, if only as his mistress…

After her father’s death, Evelyn Chambers never imagined she would be sold to the highest bidder, yet circumstances give her little choice except to accept the lord’s indecent proposal. Rafe is wealthy, as well as ruthless. Yet his coldness belies deep passion and deeper secrets. If she must be his, Evelyn intends to lay bare everything the Lord of Pembrook is hiding. But dark discoveries threaten to destroy them both until unexpected love guides the last, lost lord home…

With a soft spot for the “bad boy with a tortured past” story line, the entire Lost Lords of Pembrook series has been a, lover of that type of stories, dream come true. But from the first, it was Rafe—the cold gaming hell owner—the youngest of the three brothers, who intrigued me the most. While his elder twin brothers bore their scars from the fifteen years they were in exile in more obvious ways, it was equally obvious from the beginning that Rafe’s ran much deeper and were more closely guarded.

LORD OF WICKED INTENTIONS was the PERFECT ending

Finding that perfect someone to break down the protective wall he’d built around his heart must have been quite a challenge for this author, but she somehow managed to do just that.

Completely sheltered by her father, Evelyn’s innocence and beauty are nearly her undoing when she naively steps into a room filled with disreputable lords—including our hero—looking for a mistress, believing her brother is keeping his death bed promise to their father to find her a husband. Fortunately for Evelyn, it’s that same untouched quality about her that manages to put the first small crack in Rafe’s hardened shell and makes him come to her rescue—sort of.

Rafe and Evelyn’s unconventional beginnings set the stage for an evolution of growth for both of them as he teaches her to stand up for herself and she helps him find the man inside of him that he secretly longs to be.

LORD OF WICKED INTENTIONS was the PERFECT ending for this deeply emotional series, one that I can guarantee that I will read over and over again in the future. I’m sure you will too.
