Review

ONE NIGHT WITH A RAKE is the second installment in the collaborating duo’s—Connie Mason and Mia MarloweRoyal Rakes series and a great way to spend a stormy Spring night.

For King and Country, three notorious rakes will put all their seductive skills to work. After all, the fate of England’s monarchy is in their hands.

Since the death of his fiancé, Nathaniel Colton’s polished boots have rested beneath the beds of countless wayward wives and widows of the ton. He’s careful to leave each lady smiling, and equally careful to guard his heart. So seducing Lady Georgette should pose no problem. But the beautiful reformist is no easy conquest, and Nate’s considerable charm fails to entice Georgette to his bed. To woo her, Nate will have to make her believe he cares about someone besides himself—and no one is more surprised than Nate when he realizes he actually does.”

Although the pacing (hence the 4 stars) could have been just a little faster at certain points, the story of Nathan and Georgette is certainly worth the effort.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two characters

Still grieving for the loss of his lost love and haunted by a looming scandal, Nathan is forced into a game of seduction to stop the wedding of a Royal Duke. The woman he is meant to ruin as a means of ending the imminent royal engagement just happens to be the younger sister of his beloved Anne.

In a seduction already riddled with potential pitfalls, it doesn’t help matters that Lady Georgette has become a crusader for the unfortunate, ladies of the streets and seems determined to help them no matter the danger to herself.

Now Nathan must act as both savior and seducer if he hopes to win Georgette and complete his mission.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two characters, whether they were fighting each other or their growing feelings, the intensity remained the same, which always makes for a compelling read.
