Review

Although, this is the first book by author Amanda Forester that I have read, after enjoying the ARC copy of A MIDSUMMER BRIDE, it will not be the last!

Love is one experiment this scientist hasn’t tested

Miss Harriet Burton, a horrendously rich American heiress, laughs too loud, states her opinion directly, and even conducts science experiments. Her uncle is desperate to get her off his hands and is offering a king’s ransom to anyone able to arrange a suitable marriage that comes with a title. To avoid marriage, Harriet swears off all men, until she meets Duncan Maclachlan, Earl of Thornton. But when Thornton is falsely accused of being a traitor, Harriet must use her knowledge of chemistry to find the real culprit and spark true romance.

With refreshingly crisp and humorous dialog, somewhat atypical characters and a witty twist on the familiar “fortune hunters” premise, A MIDSUMMER BRIDE is the perfect book for someone who just wants to be swept away by a few hours of light, romantic entertainment.

…this story was very enjoyable and I often found myself laughing out loud…

I truly enjoyed the fact that neither Harriet nor Duncan particularly fit into any of the common molds for a hero and heroine, but happily forged their own unique personalities and stayed true to their slightly off the wall natures in a time when conforming to the status quo was not only expected but demanded by their peers.

I also enjoyed the way that the physical attraction between them was kept light and playful, but a smidge more in the passion department would have brought my 4 star rating up to a glowing 5.

As a whole, this story was very enjoyable and I often found myself laughing out loud, which is always a very good thing.
