Review

USA Today Bestselling author Alexandra Hawkins’ popular Lords of Vice series comes to it’s conclusion with the release of TWILIGHT WITH THE INFAMOUS EARL.

LUCK BE A LADY

Lord Chillingsworth’s reputation precedes him—the infamous “Frost” is as legendary on the field of honor as he is in the bedroom. Which makes it surprising that young Emily Cavell has taken up the cause of closing Frost’s favorite gambling hell. Who does this brazen, flame-haired beauty think she is?

LOVE: A ROLL OF THE DICE?

Emily’s vendetta is personal: She is determined to take a pound of flesh from Frost, who ruined her sister. But the man she meets is not the cold-hearted devil she imagined—and is twice as handsome to boot—and soon Emily finds herself falling for him. Their battle of wills quickly ignites into blazing desire. Could it be that the most jaded Lord of Vice is finally willing to risk everything and gamble on her heart? Or is true love only a fool’s game.

From the very first book in the Lords of Vice series, ALL NIGHT WITH A ROGUE, I’ve been compelled to seek out each installment that followed to revisit these rogues and be entertained by their ongoing adventures in romance. With only one exception, each book has been worth the wait, but the one I’ve most look forward to was Frost’s.

Kudos to Ms. Hawkins for her vision and execution of the Lords of Vice series. The characters she has created will remain amongst my favorites and so will their stories.

While Emily and Frost’s story was not exactly what I imagined, given the consistency of Frost’s nature through the series, it was nice to see the softer side of the “hard-as-ice” earl come into play and in a way that made perfect sense within the timeline of the series.

After watching all his friends fall in love, marry and living happy lives with their children, there has to be some thawing and Emily’s arrival in his life when he is beginning to feel that tug is portrayed perfectly.

With enough sass, intelligence and fortitude to hold her own against the most jaded Lord of Vice, Emily’s inherient goodness is merely the icing on the cake that Frost didn’t know that he’d been craving.

Although I would have loved to see the story extended with a epiloge of some sort, bringing ALL the happy couples together for a final goodbye to this much loved series, I hold out hope that they may appear again at some point in the future inside the pages of this author’s future works.

Kudos to Ms. Hawkins for her vision and execution of the Lords of Vice series. The characters she has created will remain amongst my favorites and so will their stories.
