Review

Already a fan of Kathryn Smith’s historical romance treats it was no surprise to discover that her vampire series The Brotherhood of the Blood was just as addicting.

“In the 1300s, six soldiers went into a Templar building searching for treasure. What they found changed them forever, making them vampires – and unlike any other of their kind. The suicide of one of their own and events that followed drove them apart, but six centuries later, an ancient evil conspires to reunite them once more.”

Perfectly wonderful as a stand-alone, but so much better when read in their entirety, the books in The Brotherhood of the Blood series offer an enticing spin on the vampire mythology, while also staying in tune with the basic aspects that make vampire stories so compelling.

Look out London. Saint’s back in town.

“They may call me Saint, but there is nothing saintly about me.”

Saint came to London looking for a little rest, blood, and maybe some feminine company. Though, the desire he sees there awakens a hunger inside him unlike any he has ever known. He is not the only man taken in by Ivy’s considerable charms, but he plans to be the only man in her bed. And when the madman he’s hunting turns his attention toward Ivy, Saint will risk everything – even his immortality – to save the woman he loves.

Now she has returned, desperate for my help in saving her beloved nephew. But my assistance comes at a price: She must share my bed once more, for the feel of her soft skin, the heat of her kiss, excite me still. And I know she desires me, even as she resists her own heart.

Yet, as we rediscover the passion that brought us together, an enemy waits to destroy us both…

Book 5: NIGHT AFTER NIGHT

I am Temple, Guardian of the Blood Grail…

Centuries ago, this magnificent chalice sealed my fate as a vampire, and now I am its protector. Many have hunted me for it, but only Vivian has accomplished the task. Strong, lovely, haunted … I am more attracted to her than I should be, yet her loyalty lies with a man determined to bring about my destruction. But I am not so easily locked in a cage, and now the captive has become the captor.

Though her stormy eyes tempt me, there is too much at stake – not merely my life, but the lives of my vampire Brotherhood. And I am not above using Vivian to achieve my goals, even if it means denying my own heart. The battle to end all battles is just beginning, and I must fight … if I could only let my desire be damned.”

With a quintet of supremely attractive and uniquely flawed vampire males, matching heroines who can hold their own against them, loads of mystery, sensuality and adventure packed into one spectacularly written series Kathryn Smith certainly delivers beyond all expectations.
