Review

After five books and two novellas in bestselling author Jennifer Ashley’s Highland Pleasures series, book six, THE WICKED DEEDS OF DANIEL MACKENZIE proves, yet again, that you can never get enough of a good thing.

“Daniel Mackenzie lives up to the reputation of the scandalous Mackenzie family—he has wealth, looks, and talent, and women love him. When he meets Violet Bastien—one of the most famous spiritual mediums in England—he immediately knows two things: that Miss Bastien is a fraud, and that he’s wildly attracted to her.

Violet knows she can’t really contact the other side, but she’s excellent at reading people. She discerns quickly that Daniel is intelligent and dangerous to her reputation, but she also finds him generous, handsome, and outrageously wicked. But spectres from Violet’s past threaten to destroy her, and she flees England, adopting yet another identity.

Daniel is determined to find the elusive Violet and pursue the passion he feels for her. And though Violet knows that her scandalous past will keep her from proper marriage, her attraction to Daniel is irresistible. It’s not until Daniel is the only one she can turn to that he proves he believes in something more than cold facts. He believes in love.”

After having witnessed Daniel grow up through the pages of this series, I was thrilled to see that he would finally be getting his own shot at a legendary romance.

A truly beautiful story, with a gentle woo-ing…

Daniel and Violet’s story is an emotionally charged masterpiece of tragedy, strength and the kind of soul-deep healing that can only happen when you find that perfect someone who accepts the person you are without a second thought.

No one needs a carefree and honestly giving soul in their life as much as Violet, who has been used and betrayed in the most heinous way that a woman can be. When Daniel enters her life, a painful past makes her completely pessimistic about his attentions, but throughout the book, it’s his patience and understanding, more than anything, that make her begin to believe again.

A truly beautiful story, with a gentle woo-ing that will make you fall in love with Daniel, Violet and all the Mackenzie’s all over again.
