Review

USA Today Bestselling author Rita Herron writes a delightful novella in her first book in the Matrimony Series, GOING TO THE CHAPEL.

If there’s a naughty list, Izzy Sassafras is on it—but she’s ready to make a new start this Christmas. Especially after leaving her lying, cheating, no-good husband and fleeing to her old hometown of Matrimony, Georgia. Izzy’s made herself a promise: no more men. All she wants to do is get her wedding business up and running—and mend fences with her estranged sisters. But Izzy knows she’s in trouble when her very first client, a smooth-talking Texan, makes her light up like a Christmas tree.

Desperate for business, private investigator Levi Fox reluctantly takes a case involving a runaway wife in a town called Matrimony. When he meets sweet, sexy Izzy, he decides she can’t possibly be as innocent as she seems. At first, posing as her client is the perfect cover; but he soon imagines himself as a groom—with Izzy as his Christmas bride! Will this case end with a trip to the chapel…or the jailhouse?

When I was asked to review this book, it was described as “absolutely hilarious and yet heartfelt” and that description is right on target. It is a sweet and charming and absolutely funny book that all begins with a beautiful cover.

GOING TO THE CHAPEL. will leave you laughing and full of love in your heart. Definitely a great pick for the holiday season

. The story is set in a beautiful little mountain town that needs a new beginning and the three Sassafras sisters, at least Izzy, is determine to make her aunt proud by opening up an all-inclusive bridal store. Who knew their first client was an undercover detective threatening to destroy their attempt at a new start?

GOING TO THE CHAPEL. will leave you laughing and full of love in your heart. Definitely a great pick for the holiday season. This book deserves all of five stars.

About the Reviewer

Donna McBroom-Theriot

Writer. Book Reviewer. Southern Lady. Connoisseur of Chocolate.

My Life is like an episode of “I love Lucy!” I’m a writer, book reviewer, and a Southern Lady who loves her Sweet Tea. My blog, My Life. One Story at a Time. is where I’ve been writing short stories since 2009. As luck would have it, the very first short story I wrote was published within months of my writing it.

This quote pretty much sums me up: “Deep in my heart, I know there’s no promise I’ll be free from trouble in this life. In fact, I’m usually either getting out of trouble, currently in trouble, or about to meet trouble around the next corner.” Well, you know that old saying, “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions” – that road is usually the one I’m on!

And, as much I used to mock (we all grow up eventually) the Cajun dialect, 15 years ago, I found myself marrying the sweetest Cajun boy – complete with the requisite white trawl boots and a trawl boat.

I love writing stories about the South and life with our two German Shepherds, and the four kids who meander in and out of our lives as they live their own journeys.

Most days you’ll find me out on the front porch swing, with the dogs at my feet, a tall glass of sweet iced tea close by, and a good book. It’s what life in the South is all about.
